ABP has invested 15 million in state-of-the-art equipment at Hull Container Terminal.
ABP took control of operation on the facility on 1st May and may carry on and service the terminal’s customer, Samskip. The port operator has bought new infrastructure and equipment and brought on 39 staff from previous operator, PD Ports.
The 30-acre operation handles more than 9,000 containers per 30 days and discharges vessels from Rotterdam, Tilbury and Grangemouth.
The investment includes two new Liebherr gantry cranes, and a variety of 21 reach stackers, tractors and trailers.
Simon Bird, ABP Director Humber, said: “The opportunity arose for ABP to own the terminal when our agreement with PD Ports came to an end. We already attempt a very successful container operation in Immingham, so it made sense for all of us to look to be effective the Hull terminal too.
“The transition is really a smooth one and several with the terminal’s existing workers are now the main ABP workforce. We’re looking forward to using a successful operation and exploring new business opportunities so that you can maximise the price of ABP’s latest terminal investment.”
