Record checks like 'seeking to put lipstick with a pig,' lawmaker says

Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie said Sunday that background record checks to buy guns deliver “false senses of security," comparing these phones putting “lipstick using a pig.”

"If only that criminal record checks stopped criminals or stopped school shootings, but they also don’t," the Republican congressman said on NBC’s “Meet the Press."

"You can actually place all the info you want" in private check system, Massie said, however it wouldn’t stop a shooter.

"You’re seeking to put lipstick over a pig," he added.

"In A decade’s, we’re still intending to have school shootings, if you do not propose real legislation," Massie said.

President Mr . trump recently proposed arming teachers in classrooms, a good idea that Massie said he supported, within the wake of any Florida school shooting that left 17 people dead.
